Alexis LOIR (Paris 1640 - 1713) "Madonna and Child with Saint John" Original etching by a subject by Nicolas Loir. Beautiful copy printed on thin laid paper with the letter "Crowned T on BC monogram with Heart" similar to Heawood 717, attributable to French paper production of the second half of the seventeenth century, trimmed to the imprint of the plate which in some places is still visible, with some slight spots and small reintegrations at the corners but overall in excellent general condition. Rather rare subject that is missing from the repertoire of LeBlanc. Bibliography: Benezit "Dictionnaire des Peintres .." Paris 1976 vol.6 page 717. Heawood "Monumenta chartae papyraceae" Hilversum 1986 n ° 717. LeBlanc "Manuel de l'Amateur d'Estampes" Paris 1856 vol.2 page 561 Measurements in mm: 347 x 262 (the sheet)
